The Brihadishvara Temple complex in Tamil Nadu, India is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, a Hindu deity. It is one of the largest South Indian temples and is an incredible display of Tamil architecture. This temple was constructed alongside other temples as part of the Great Living Chola Temples in 1003 AD. It was commissioned on orders from king Raja Raja Chola I. The structure itself is incredibly old and has some components, like the vimana tower, built out of granite. Interestingly enough, this site is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site due its association with the Great Living Chola Temples which was designated a heritage site in 1987.
