The Lotus Temple is located in New Delhi, India and is a Baha’i House of Worship created in 1986. It is famous for its unique lotus flower design and contemporary architectural features. It is one of the most prominent and popular tourist attractions in New Delhi. Just like all other Houses of Worship, the temple is open to those of all religions without restrictions. The temple itself truly is a marvel of architectural creativity and ingenuity with the flower design being composed of 27 marble “petals” clustered together to create the 9 sides of the temple. It also has 9 corresponding doors that open into a central hall that can fit a maximum capacity of 2,500 people. Due to its intricate and ornate design, it has been the recipient of many architectural awards.
